My god, has anyone else had a problem with the enormous mob of stone summit near where Maw the Mountain Heart is in Dreadnought's Drift?

I went today with a full complement of henchies from Deldrimor Warcamp to capture Feast of Corruption and upon arrival at Dreadnought's there was a mass of Giants. So i thought, no problem giants = pushover. Well i proceed to turn right and eventually see an enormous mob of stone summit with one heretic, THREE Dolyak masters that spam mend ailment, Mark of Prot. and heal eachother. The rest is made up of 3-4 gnashers and 10-15 carvers+rangers.

I know that this mob is here to stop overfarming of the secret thingys in Dread's Drift but this is rediculous seeing as me, a R/N and some henchies CAN NOT take on ONE group of 20+ stone summit. The problem is that the presence of three creatures with mark of protection which just spam it onto whatever we are attacking.

Seeing as i was the only one with interrupts, i could not keep the monks at bay while my henchie team killed something else because they would follow my target.

I am VERY frustrated as i did not get to cap FoC. Does anyone know anyone else where a definite spawn for Maw is? I've seen him all over the shiverpeaks but at random times and places so as i forget where he was .

Also, as part of my quest to uncover the entire map, i encountered the Frozen Forest, most notably the southern edge of it. This area is also teeming with stone summit, with groups of 20+ at a time as well.

I forgot to take pictures of Dreadnought's Drift but these screens of the Frozen Forest more than prove my point. I have counted 31 stone summit in the second picture.

Your a ranger - Pull a few of them out and make them chase you.

Or zone back into Snake and come back - hope for a better spawn.

You're a ranger - bring traps. While trapping - DP doesn't matter.
Take out the melee mob first (try to do something about henchies - don't let them gain DP), just trap and run back till they are dead.

When the melee mob is dead - your healer and prot henchies will be able to hold a bit - run in (send in henchies first)... trap them to death.
Don't forget to take Orion - faster to kill the icy mob.

I hope it works.

Pick up real players. First the monk henchies dont heal properly (they attack more than heal). Dunham Spams Conjure P. and thats it. And Orian Casts Fire Storm at the wrong time everytime. I agree get a minion master and an SS necro. The minions make great distractions.

Don't worry about it too much. Grind through it (not what you wanted to hear I'm sure ). Bring the canes if you have them, and bring loads of cash if you don't.

Just before you get to Maw, hug the right-side cliff (so you don't aggro him), and kneel at the statue of Dwayna. She'll help you out with that death penalty stuff.

Feast of Corruption is well worth it. It's as good an elite as Spiteful Spirit for my money, and you get better bragging rights since SS is so easy to cap. Got mine with a N/R and henchmen heading north from Rankor too.
